Two Shot In Union County While Riding In A Vehicle


UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Two adults were shot while riding in a vehicle in Monroe Saturday night, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

According to deputies, a silver Honda Accord was driving on Griffith Road towards Plyler Mill Road around 9:30 p.m. when suddenly the vehicle was fired upon by another vehicle that was directly behind the victims.

At the time of the incident the victim’s vehicle was occupied by three adults and one infant child. A 60-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were shot while riding in the vehicle and transported to local hospitals for treatment.

The unidentified victims are in stable condition, according to officials.

Investigators examined the victim’s vehicle and found that the gunfire narrowly missed the infant child’s car seat.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
