CHARLOTTE — Uptown Charlotte is packed with college football fans gearing up for Saturday’s big ACC Championship Game. Wake Forest, The Atlantic Division champs, are taking on Pittsburgh, the Coastal Division champs, at Bank of America Stadium. Hundreds gathered for fan fest at Romare Bearden Park Friday night.
“We’re excited yes, we have a once in a generation quarterback and we’re just making sure we soak it all in yeah,” says Steffan and Sarah Langguth of Pittsburgh.
“We’re Pit fans, but we both went to Wake. We met at Wake, and got married 25 years later, and we’re here, so this is our personal super bowl, we can’t lose either way,” says Clinton and Brooke Guyaux of Pittsburgh.
15 years ago, Wake Forest was crowned the champions when they beat Georgia Tech. Despite the pandemic, this year’s game will look a whole lot different from last year’s. The attendance was capped at just over 5200 people at Bank of America Stadium due to Covid restrictions. This year, masks are required in all indoor spaces inside the stadium.
