SC Governor Vows To Take Fight Over Mask Mandate Ban To U.S. Supreme Court

ROCK HILL, S.C. – South Carolina’s Governor is vowing to take the fight over masks in schools to the U.S. Supreme Court.

It comes after a federal judge blocked the state’s ban on mask mandates in schools.

Governor Henry McMaster put the measure in place earlier this year, prohibiting school districts from using state money to enforce a mask mandate.

The ACLU sued last month, saying banning mask requirements can exclude children with disabilities.

Two South Carolina districts in the WCCB Charlotte viewing area already have mask mandates in place, in defiance of the Governor – Chester Schools and York District One.

Other districts like the Lancaster County School District tell WCCB Charlotte it’s too soon to know if they’ll put a mandate in place too.
