Parents Ask Judge for Injunction To Stop Lincoln County Schools From Making Masks Optional

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Masks will now be optional starting Wednesday inside Lincoln County Schools, despite a last minute plea from a group of parents.

They filed a motion in court, asking a judge to grant an injunction arguing students are at an imminent risk of getting sick and spreading COVID to others.

Lawyers for the school board say the judge doesn’t have the authority to overrule the elected body.

The judge says he won’t be able to make a ruling until Thursday afternoon.
