Delwood Barnhill

Barnhill was born in Raleigh, N.C. in 2001 and attended East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte.

At the time of his death, Barnhill was a junior at Davidson College majoring in Religious Studies.

Barnhill’s family describes him as passionate about many topics, and say he could spend hours debating and discussing issues.

He is described as a very likable person, who accepted everyone and never said unkind words about anyone, and someone who enjoyed playing games and getting to know others from all walks of life.

Barnhill is survived by his parents and younger siblings, Caroline, Campbell, and Rooks.

Mario Black, a teacher from Barnhill’s middle school days, took to Facebook to offer his condolences after the announcement of his students’ death was made.

Black said “He was a joy to have serve as the leading editor on my newsletter and yearbook staff during my days at McClintock Middle School. He was a Junior at Davidson College with a bright future ahead of him. I am truly saddened this morning and I am canceling my day to attend his service at 2 p.m. No matter what was going on he was always a ray of sunshine for us all. I ask that family and friends please lift up his family who I love and admire as well as my colleagues at McClintock. Take your rest “DELL BARNHILL.” I know Without A Shadow Of A Doubt You Are In Heaven.”
