Matthews Veteran Selected For Home Purchase Campaign

CHARLOTTE, NC – An unbelievable surprise for a local Navy veteran. Veterans United Home Loans selected a Matthews man for their thanks to veterans campaign.

“Getting my hopes up so many times was a little difficult,” said former Navy Aviation Tech Andre Hughes.

He’s been renting in Matthews ever since leaving the military in 2006.

“When I was finally ready to put down some real roots here, it became a little more difficult especially in the last year with what’s going on in the housing market,” said Hughes.

With a surging housing market and low supply; Hughes, like many Americans, struggled to get his offers accepted. Rejected more than a dozen times.

“It was between 12 and 15 and every single one of them got beat out. They went with somebody else. Went with a better offer. More money, something like that,” said Hughes.

That is until his realtor entered him into a “Thanks to Veterans” campaign.
THAT IS UNTIL HIS REALTOR ENTERED HIM INTO A “THANKS TO VETERANS” CAMPAIGN.

“You want these veterans in your area, at your schools, in your churches and giving back. We wanted to highlight that,” said Pam Swan.

She is with Veterans United Home Loans. They selected Hughes and bought him a home.

“Are you serious?.. You serious? This is real?” said Hughes during the big reveal.

Hughes says its an opportunity to build wealth for his daughters. And free up tim to continued doing what he loves. Serving others.
