KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — The City of Kings Mountain has made the decision to postpone all scheduled mass gatherings as COVID-19 cases continue to surge within Cleveland County, according to a news release.
Cleveland County health officials say the local healthcare system has become severely strained with the alarming upsurge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
As a result, health officials are asking for help from the community to mitigate this incredibly transmissible disease.
“As COVID-19 cases continue to rise and place a high level of demand and burden on our healthcare and hospital systems in Cleveland County, using layered prevention strategies is extremely important,” said Tiffany Hansen, Cleveland County Health Director. “We value our partners and their continued commitment to protecting the health and safety of our community residents.”
After careful consideration, the City of Kings Mountain will postpone all scheduled outdoor events including LIVE at Patriots Park Concert and Cruise-In featuring Who’s Bad, The Ultimate Michael Jackson Experience, the Great Pumpkin Parade, and Wonderful Adventure to Oz.
County officials say instead, they look forward to hosting these events in 2022.
“Our team is committed to providing community activities, enrichment and entertainment that have a positive impact on our community,” said Christy Conner, Special Events Director for the City. “We will begin utilizing our creative skills to produce smaller, passive activities that are supportive of the health and safety of our guests, community members, volunteers and staff. Our team and community are resilient and I know we will join together to overcome these current circumstances.”
